NO LATER THAN JAN 31ST, READ THE NCC2050 PLAN AND EMAIL YOUR FEEDBACK TO THE COUNTY (30+ MIN DURATION)
*
Take 30 minutes (or more if you want) to read the parts of the NCC comprehensive plan that are most interesting or concerning to you and SEND AN EMAIL BY JANUARY 31ST TO NCC2050@newcastlede.gov with your feedback on specific sections. Recommended but not required: include motalliance@motalliance.com on this email, so that we can log all comments, make sure the Land Use department responds to each, and make sure this is communicated to the Planning Board and County Council.
*
Why take this time if you already completed the MOT Alliance survey and/or attend the January 12th meeting? This may be the most important of the three activities in January. Spending time to submit your formal comment to the county email address above is strongly advocated by our elected officials who have been so helpful in the MOT Alliance effort (namely councilperson Dave Carter and state senator Stephanie Hansen). It is critical that residents provide formal, written comments, because it is possible that the MOT Alliance survey and the public forum zooms may not be given the attention they deserve, since they don’t perfectly align with the sections of the NCC2050 document. Specific comments referenced to specific pages in the NCC2050 plan that are emailed to the official NCC2050 email address are “official.”

Tips on wisely using 30+ minutes for this activity:
Step 1: Go to the NCC2050 website to find links to all the sections of the plan.
Step 2: Prioritize the following sections depending on how much time and interest you have, with sections C and J being the most important:
- 10 minutes – Section C (13 pages) – specifically map “C-1” – this is THE MAP in the plan that will have the FORCE OF LAW so we really need to make sure we agree with it
- 10 minutes – Section J (just pages 25-27) and Appendix F (just pages 14-19) – these are the sections that are specific to MOT
- 20+ minutes – The WILMAPCO SNCC plan that is referenced in Section J (185 pages) – this is extremely long, so we advise use the table of contents to choose a topic that is of most interest to you
- 5+ minutes – Any other sections in NCC2050 (sections A, B, D through I, K through O, other appendices) – if there is a specific topic you are interested in read these sections as desired
Step 3: Write an email to NCC2050@newcastlede.gov that includes your name, address (or neighborhood name), and what you would like changed. Please write a productive message, focusing on problems and proposed solutions, without inflammatory language. MOT Alliance principles are community, respect, and transparency; we encourage you to reflect these principles in your communication.
